SPOTLIGHT ON HOW SWEET IT IS

My name is Pilar Vocker, and I am the Co-Founder of How Sweet It Is, a small batch handcrafted confectionary in Portland, Oregon. Established in 2017, we make a variety of candies and confections that are nods to the people and memories of our life. From Brittles to Rocky Road to chocolate covered nuts and cherries, there is a candy for everyone. We also have candy giftboxes which are great for corporate gifts, for birthdays, or just because you are thinking of someone.

When it came to starting the business, it came out of a mix of realizing life is short, so why wait to take the leap. Myself and my husband found ourselves needing to support our family. The leap felt comfortable and scary to me, and I encouraged my husband to make the candy he was trained to make. I would figure out the rest because entrepreneurship runs in my blood. Three of my uncles came to the United States from Mexico and opened upholstery shops that they ran for many years in different cities. My paternal Grandfather, Gilberto also owned a market in McAllen, Tx. It has been quite the journey and we are just getting started.
